A vibrant collection of art is a reflection of my continued fascination with local business in the Ottawa area. I love to capture my impression of local stores and restaurants that become such a huge part of our everyday lives. Small businesses offer us services, and products that bring us enjoyment, and provide us with places to spend our leisure time. I am particularly drawn to storefronts with well designed signage, well placed colours and creative displays. I have never owned a store, but I can see that it is a true labor of love and commitment to ride the highs and lows of owning a business. And those businesses combine to create interesting streets and urban spaces. Every painting is created with the intent to capture the energy of a particular street or place. And yes…my urban work does always focus on the happier side of life in the city.
My series captures just a few places that I enjoy, or find interesting in the Ottawa area. I render my paintings with a playful abstract touch. Feel free to e-mail me if you have a particular suggestion for me.
